American League West Competition
The AL West is only one of baseball’s divisions. The division only has four teams now. At one point it had as many as seven teams. The teams in this division are located along the western coast of the country and in Texas. The division has had teams in Chicago before. This is the only division to only have four teams. The Angels were the last team to win the division. Last year, the Angels were very dominant on the field. There was a lot of Anaheim Angels merchandise in Cali.
The Los Angeles Angels were founded as California Angels. The Oakland Athletics were one of the original teams in baseball. Oakland A’s merchandise is not selling at the rate that owners and sellers would like. The Seattle Mariners were founded in 1977 as one of the expansion teams. The Texas Rangers joined the league in 1972. They were originally known as the Washington Senators. They also were in the AL East. If Seattle and Texas would get better, then the Seattle Mariners merchandise as well as Texas Rangers merchandise would sell. Nobody wants to follow a losing team. Well, take that back. Not many people would.
The White Sox, Royals, Twins, and Brewers used to be in this division. The White Sox, Royals and Twins are in the American League Central. The Brewers are not in the American League. The Brew Crew fill their stadium up more often than people realize. Many people buy tickets but sometimes don’t come to the games and it looks mostly filled. They don’t have a problem buying Milwaukee Brewers merchandise, especially when the Cubs are in town.
The Oakland Athletics have won 14 AL West crowns. Their last title was in 2006 The Los Angeles Angels have won it 7 times. They last won the division last year. The Kansas City Royals have won it 6 times. The Minnesota Twins have won it 4 times. The Seattle Mariners have won it 3 times. Their last division crown was in 2001, where they won a league-best 116 games. The Texas Rangers have won 3 titles. Their last division crown was in 1999. The Chicago White Sox won 2 titles.
